Grundy County Problem Solving Courts

The Grundy County Problem Solving courts (GCPSC) are problem solving courts servicing Grundy County. The program is an "umbrella" program encompassing two separate courts, and adult Drug Court (DC), focused on individuals struggling with serous addiction issues, and an adult Treatment Alternative Court (TAC), focused on individuals with serious mental health issues. In addition, there is a special track with specialized services available to court involved Veterans through collaboration with the local VAC and VJA. Both courts recognize that many participants - in both programs - are dealing with co-occurring disorders and the program provides appropriate services. GCPSC provides increased judicial supervision and accountability to the program participants while providing expedited access to treatment and services for both addiction and mental health diagnoses. GCPSC's are voluntary programs, but the participants are subject to meeting eligibility criteria and obtaining approval and acceptance by the GCPSC teams. GCPSC targets high risk/high need individuals charged with probation-eligible felony offenses that are not excluded by state statute. In addition, GCPSC participants must be at least 18  years of age and have a serious mental health illness, addiction, or co-occurring disorder.

Referrals for GCPSC's are made by completing the GCPSC Referral Form. The referral may originate from a Criminal Court Judge, State's Attorney, Public Defender, law enforcement, Probation Officer, treatment professional, private attorney, a private citizen, or the candidates themselves.

The referral may be dropped off at the State's Attorney's Office, Public Defender's Office, or emailed to mconwell@grundycountyil.gov.
